WordPress Hosting Frequently Asked Questions
WordPress Hosting is a type of web hosting service that has been optimized specifically for fast, reliable, and secure WordPress websites. When you order a WordPress hosting account, often the hosting company will install WordPress for you automatically along with some basic WordPress plugins to get you started, such as Yoast SEO, and WP Super Cache, and configure your PHP environment to run WordPress smoothly.
The main difference between the two different types of hosting is optimization and toolkit features. WordPress Hosting is built to power your WordPress installation and provides additional tools which you don’t normally get on a shared hosting platform with a standard account.
With Web Hosting - whilst you can still use it to host WordPress, it’s not optimized fully out of the box for the software. Often reliable hosting providers will be able to give you advice on how to resolve your issues with WordPress, whereas those who offer a managed WordPress Hosting solution may have a dedicated WordPress team who are able to assist you with any issues you have with your WordPress host.
To migrate your existing website to our platform, it’s a straightforward process and you will be up and running in no time at all.
First, you should back up your website files to your desktop using FTP. Once your transfer is underway, log in to your existing web host control panel and head to PHPMyAdmin. Once you are in there, you should be able to find your WordPress database, select it and choose ‘Export’. Once you have both the FTP transfer completed and the .SQL download of your database, you can log in to your control panel with zzHosting.
Once you have logged in, head to the ‘MySQL Databases’ section and create a database for your website, don’t forget to create and assign a user too. Make a note of these details, including the password, as you will need to update your wp-config.php file with the new information shortly. Open up PHPMyAdmin, choose the new database you created and select ‘Import’ from the menu, find your exported .SQL file, and proceed to import the data.
While your data is importing, open up your FTP program again and connect to our server using your FTP login details (these can be found in your welcome mail). You need to upload your backup of the files to the public_html folder for your site.
Once the import and your upload have been completed, you can update your wp-config.php file to match the new database connection details that you previously created. You should then be able to view your WordPress site on our server to ensure that everything is running as expected.
